Vacusystem: a new generation of vacuum lifters for sheet material

Safely moving sheet material is a daily challenge for many manufacturing companies. Large surface areas, heavy weights, and fragile materials require reliable handling solutions that are not only safe but also flexible and future-proof. At the same time, the demands on vacuum technology are increasing. Companies want to work more efficiently, save energy, and be able to adapt systems more easily to new products or process changes. To address these challenges, Habeload and Succor jointly developed the Vacusystem: a modular vacuum solution for safely and efficiently lifting sheet material.

Why traditional vacuum lifters are not always the optimal solution

Many vacuum lifters operate with a single central vacuum supply that provides vacuum to all suction cups.

Although this technology has proven itself in practice, challenges sometimes arise when:

  • products vary significantly in size;
  • flexibility is required;
  • systems need to be expanded;
  • energy consumption plays an important role.

This led to the question:

Can vacuum technology be designed to be smarter, safer, and more flexible?

The answer to that question formed the basis for the development of Vacusystem.

Inspired by nature

During the development of Vacusystem, we looked at how an octopus's suckers work together. Instead of one central vacuum supply, the system uses multiple decentralized electric vacuum generators, also known as Vacupods . Each Vacupod generates vacuum locally and works in tandem with the other modules within the system. This creates a flexible and modular vacuum gripper that can be easily adapted to different applications.
